Denison Community High School has a comprehensive curriculum program offering over one hundred courses. The main thrust of the program is threefold: (1) to provide an educational program for college-bound students; (2) to provide career education for students who will be entering the world of work; and (3) to develop positive thinking students who will become involved in solving problems, active in community affairs, and who will make our country a better place in which to live. The average Denison ACT composite score for the past five years is 21.1 (national average is 20.6). Denison’s dropout rate is less than two percent with eighty-eight percent of students going on to some form of post high school education. Fifty percent of graduating seniors go on to a four-year college and 80 percent complete the program they initiate.

The middle school is organized into grades sixth, seventh, and eighth. The sixth grade operates as a “school within a school” and follows a different schedule. The academic program emphasizes the mastery of basic skills, with exploratory courses being offered in computer literacy, art, industrial arts, home economics, speech, and careers. The extra-curricular program offers opportunities in instrumental and vocal music, interscholastic athletics, intramurals, and clubs.

Students begin their public school experience in the Denison Elementary School. The building was completed in 1979 with the capacity for 650 students k – 5. Small class sizes (19-25), a carefully developed curriculum, an award winning media program, plus a caring and dedicated staff make our elementary school program an outstanding one.
